Lectures of leading scientists at the Ural Mathematical Center (delivered by P.V. Kuptsov)

(22 - 23 December 2023)

Professor Pavel Vladimirovich Kuptsov, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, chief research worker, head of the Laboratory of Theoretical Nonlinear Dynamics at the Saratov branch of the Kotelnikov Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, delivered a lecture in the seminar on the topic "Application of Numerical Lyapunov Analysis to the Study of Chaotic Dynamics".

The first part of the lecture was devoted to the procedure of calculating Lyapunov exponents for dynamical systems. The second part was concerned with methods of calculating local (finite-dimensional) and instantaneous Lyapunov exponents, the matrix of Lyapunov diffusion, covariant Lyapunov vectors, and the angles between tangent subspaces. Examples were given of using the characteristic objects of Lyapunov analysis for the study of chaotic dynamics. In particular, the method of numerical verification of hyperbolicity and pseudo-hyperbolicity was discussed.
